Goats are Herd Animals
KATE GROSSEK • October 9, 2020
Did you know that goats are herd animals? Goats are highly social and emotionally intelligent animals. Whilst they can get along with many other types of animals, a goat is at it's happiest when it is with other goats. For this reason, I only sell them in pairs unless you already have goats. Goats on their own often don't realise that they are "goats" and may start to think that they are humans or dogs. They may develop some undesirable behaviour such as being overly dominant and highly noisy and demanding. I always try to keep my goats in their friendship and family groups where possible. Like humans, they will remember their family members and make strong friendships with certain goats. I even time my breedings so that if I have a pair of does who are best friends, they will breed and kid at the same time :)
